Candace Owens blasted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s use of a letter from her late friend, Charlie Kirk. Following Kirk’s assassination, Owens accused the prime minister of misrepresenting his views and vowed to “destroy every lie.”

Following the assassination of conservative figure Charlie Kirk, his close friend and former colleague Candace Owens issued a public challenge to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The prime minister’s remarks on a recent Newsmax broadcast prompted Owens to speak out, vowing to “destroy every lie.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared on Fox News’ The Faulkner Focus on September 11, 2025, where he delivered an emotional tribute to Kirk following his assassination at a rally at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, the previous day. During the interview, Netanyahu referenced the letter Kirk had sent him on May 2, 2025, reading an excerpt: “One of my greatest joys as a Christian is advocating for Israel and forming alliances to defend Judeo-Christian civilization.” He used the letter to highlight Kirk’s support for Israel amid rising conspiracy theories.

Owens, who had a long and collaborative history with Kirk, reacted to Netanyahu’s comments on social media. She had served as the communications director for his Right-Wing organization Turning Point USA from 2017 to 2019. The pair collaborated on numerous events and pro-Trump advocacy efforts. Their personal bond was clear, with Kirk even playing a role in introducing Owens to her future husband, George Farmer, in 2018. Following Kirk’s death, Owens referred to him as a “little brother.”

On September 12, Owens took to X to criticize the prime minister, accusing him of intentionally misrepresenting Kirk’s views.

“The man literally booked himself on an American prime time show and held up a letter to represent it as a love letter to Israel,” Owens wrote in a post. “He did that intentionally. It was naked, deception and propaganda. Let the world hear Charlie in his own words.”

In a subsequent post, she added, “Bibi brought up the letter himself and severely misrepresented the contents of it. I’m calling on him to publish the entire thing.”

Owens also shared a personal message with her followers. “No show today because I am feeling deeply angry, it’s personal,” she wrote. “I intend to destroy every lie so be sure to peddle them very carefully.”

The day after Kirk’s death, Owens paid tribute to her friend on her YouTube podcast. She revealed that despite their close public alliance, they often had private debates on various subjects, including Israel. According to Owens, Kirk had begun to question his own stance on the issue. In one of his final interviews, Kirk had asked conservative commentator Ben Shapiro if it was permissible for people to begin questioning the narrative on Israel.

Owens stated on her podcast, “Charlie Kirk and I would talk and debate things behind the scenes, and as always in our relationship, my perspective was, ‘You might not get it now, Charlie, but you will.’ I’m only a few years older than you, but I think you’re going to see things my way. In the end, Charlie was going through a spiritual transformation—I don’t just think it, I know it. He was under a lot of pressure, and it’s hard for me to watch the people who were pressuring him say the things they’re saying now; it feels really fake to me. They would have let him lose everything for even slightly modifying an opinion, and to see them doing what they’re doing today is very hurtful to me.”

Kirk was killed on September 10, 2025, during an outdoor event on his “American Comeback Tour.” While conducting his question and answer session in front of approximately 3,000 attendees in the Sorensen Center courtyard, he was fatally shot in the neck by a single bullet fired from the roof of the nearby Losee Center, roughly 142 yards away. The attack, which Utah Governor Spencer Cox called a “political assassination,” shocked the conservative movement and sparked widespread outrage. The FBI launched a manhunt for the suspect, offering a $100,000 reward for information, as conspiracy theories and tributes flooded social media. Kirk’s death, at age 31, marked a significant loss for the MAGA-aligned conservative youth movement he had championed. A 22-year-old Utah man, Tyler Robinson, was named as the prime suspect in Kirk’s murder.
